Jacussi™bringing the power of server side scripting to plain HTML pagesJacussi is an acronym for JavaScript activated communication using standardized script interface, and is a set of tools and a methodology for melding together server side applications and plain HTML pages, so that you get as many of the advantages of both, and as few of the disadvantages of either as possible. Jacussi as a methodology of implementation can be used with any server side programming language that can be communicated to via the http protocol and can return plain text / XML as output. Obviously that covers languages such as C/C++, Perl, Java, PHP, ASP, Miva script, python, bash shell scripts, and so many other languages that it would be somewhat silly to try and list them. The main Jacussi application acts as a bridge between the HTML page and the applications that want to expose data to the HTML pages in the form of text that is output to the document, or JavaScript simple variables or Objects that can be used by the HTML document. An application that Jacussi communicates to is termed a Jacussi Module or jMod, and has a very simple API it must adhere to. There are also some specialized implementations of Jacussi such as a set of modules and an initiation file for the Miva Merchant storefront development system. |
